Great blue heron seen through a bush swamp landscape. This is an original watercolor painting signed lower right, Vallez. The painting is in great condition with no water damage, holes or tears. Painting measures 11 inches wide and 16 inches tall. Set in a nicely matched frame that measures 23-1/2 inches wide and 28-1/2 inches tall. Please note, all bright white in pictures are reflections from the camera and not scratches.
Jerry Vallez, born in 1927, entered his first show, The Chicago Arts Festival at McCormick Place where he was one of 53 artists accepted out of the over 800 entries. In 1976 he was listed in the bicentennial issue of Wisconsin Men of Distinction. In 1986 he won first place in an International Marine Art competition held in New York at Madison Square Garden. Painted murals in many local homes as well as the lobby of Capital Bank on the north Tamiami Trail. In 2012, he was honored with an exhibit and celebration for his 40-year history of painting in and around Crayton Cove.
Jerry died on September 15, 2012 from the effects of a stroke one month earlier. (jerryvallez)
