Signed by Artist Jack M. Massmann (1921-2004), Snowy Street in Tyrol, Austria, Original Watercolor Works on Paper. Titled, "Tyrol Stadt" December 10, 1990. Signed and dated on lower right front. I see no water damage or foxing on this 10-1/2 inches wide and 14 inches tall painting. The frame measures 15-1/4 inches wide and 19-1/4 inches tall.
He was born April 4, 1921, in Glenridge, N.J.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a B17 waist gunner and aerial photographer. He flew 36 missions over Germany, survived a mid-air collision and was shot down over hostile territory. He has honorably discharged from the Army Air Corps.
He re-enlisted in the New York Army National Guard and was given a field promotion to second lieutenant in the New York Air National Guard during the Korean conflict. He was then assigned to Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany, where he was assigned into the Air Force. He served in the 13th Headquarters with service in Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force in 1968.
After his retirement, he dedicated a great deal of time to the Cheyenne Artist Guild, specializing in watercolors. Some of his work is reflected at the First Presbyterian Church, park benches and the recent display of giant cowboy boots around Cheyenne.
He died Oct. 6, 2004
