Big eyed little girl with a large bowler hat and bow made from a french newspaper. This delightful painting measures inside mat 16 inches wide and 21 inches tall. I see no water damage, tears or scratches. Signed across top, Paris Francois. Painted on paper with the cutout of newspaper attached. The black wood frame measures 19-1/2 inches wide and 25-1/2 inches tall. The frame has light dents but still looks nice. I took most of the pictures when I removed from frame to clean inside glass. It is now back in its original frame with a new black velvet mat. New back paper and hanging wire was put on the backside.
From what I was able to gather about the artist, Francois was a modernist street artist in Paris, France where he knew Roger Etienne. They both developed there own styles trying to out do each other. Francois spent most of his time painting children and happy whimsical Parisian figures with a page out of a local newspaper fitting into the picture somewhere.
