Beautifully detailed floral bouquet of flowers in a white urn. A fly has landed on the yellow flower at the top. This still life watercolor was painted by Frederike Meinert in 1836. Signed and dated lower right. I see no tears, holes or water damage. The painting looks very nice but the paper has browned with age. I do see a few lighter spots of foxing in the paper. Inside the mat the painting measures 8-1/4 inches wide and 9-3/4 inches tall. This sits in a dark wood frame with hand carved detail on the top edges. The frame looks great and measures 13 inches wide and 15 inches tall. This does not look to be the original frame. Meinert was a German artist who actively painted from 1836 to 1848 painting in watercolors and oil paints. Was known for his still live paintings.
