Two Bambuco dancers from Colombia made in the 1970’s -1980’s with Colombian Butterflies on reverse glass with a black background to enhance the wings. It is in a metal gold frame with a chain for hanging. It measures approximately 10-1/2 inches tall and 8-1/2 inches wide. There is a few tiny wings that are missing that is commensurate with age, but, this is so beautiful you do not notice when looking at the picture because your eyes are drawn to the vivid colors. It is still in great condition. Beautiful iridescent colors of vivid blues, purples, browns and yellows. It is signed on the lower left on back Bertha and numbered 2067190. This would look lovely in any room.
Bambuco is a traditional music genre originated from Colombia. It has a beat structure similar to the European waltz or polska (not to be confused with the polka). Typically a bambuco piece is a folk music song accompanied by a stylized group dance in either a 6/8 or 3/4 meter.
Bambuco took a cultural foothold in the Andean region of Colombia and has spread in popularity throughout Latin America. The Festival Folclórico y Reinado Nacional del Bambuco in Neiva is a festival celebrating bambuco music.
