Original French Pochoir Print by Harry Eliott (b. 1882, d. 1959) Catholic Monk Musicians in an Abbey. This print is in excellent condition. The colors are still vibrant with no visible signs of fading. The print has a printers mark in the lower left corner of the print hidden under the mat. (see picture)
Inside mat, the picture measures (24 cm) 9-1/2 inches wide and (35 cm) 13-3/4 inch tall. The original beetle kill wood frame measures (43.5 cm) 17-1/4 inches wide and (55 cm) 21-3/4 inch tall.
Pochoir is a refined stencil-based technique employed to create prints or to add color to pre-existing prints. It was most popular from the late 19th century through the 1930's with its center of activity in Paris. Pochoir was primarily used to create prints devoted to fashion, patterns, and architectural design and is most often associated with Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
