Sue “Morning Star” Weaver was a much sought-after artist of Native American and Western culture with national and international patrons. Her Cherokee heritage and love of the land inspired her work. Sue’s paintings told a spiritual tale based upon tribal stories told by her mother. Sue and her husband, Dale Weaver, owned two art galleries, The Lantern Dancer in Pagosa Springs, CO and Weaver Studio West in Marana, AZ. They traveled around the United States selling their artwork, leather work and jewelry in different art venues. Sue died July 5, 1999 in Marana, AZ after battling cancer for five years. Husband Dale preceded her in death November 29, 1996.
Her Paintings portray quiet, peaceful stories of the soul and heart. She tells about the family side of Indian life. With no formal training, she had been free to create her own unique style using water media and rice papers. She produced atmospheric qualities that transport you softly and warmly into her thoughts to a time when all was wild and free.
