Late 19th century oil painting on Academy Board. This small boat with a glowing lantern on its aft is waiting for the tide to come in. The full moon is finding its way through the clouds creating a glow on the water drained shore. The painting has no scratches, restorations or holes. The painting measures 11-1/4 inches wide and 17 inches tall. The centuries old surface dirt adds to this paintings mystic. The original gilded wood frame measures 16-1/4 inches wide and 21-3/4 inches tall. The frame has some small spots of paint loss and dents around the outer edge and the corners have slight separation but all is commensurate with it age. Please refer to photos. On the verso are the original hand made square nails that hold the painting in the frame.
