This hand painted bouquet of flowers look so real and fresh cut. The artist used a tempura paint and opaque watercolor with some graphite. Signed by artist in black ink, Fr. Meinert 1834. The painting measures inside the mat 9-3/4 inches wide and 12-3/4 inches tall. Paper has turned light brown with age. With my Eye Scope I see some very light craquelure on the dark blue flowers and some very light flaking in areas of the white flowers. These are not noticeable without a large magnifier. This painting looks great for its age. Set in its original gilded and gesso frame that measures about 18 inches wide and 20 inches tall. The frame is missing two of the corners on the right side. Someone has colored in the corners to match the rest of the fame. This also was repapered on the verso so it looks new. I did not remove from frame to see if painting is signed or titled on the back. This is still a very wonderful antique painting for a living room or place of prominence.
