Goofus glass was easy to find at one time. Now all the good pieces are hard to find because most the paint is gone. Goofus glass is pressed glass which was decorated with cold, unfired paint in the early 20th century in America by several prominent glass factories. Because it was mass-produced and relatively cheap, it was given as a premium for buying things, awarded as prizes at fairs. It was the first carnival glass, preceding the iridized product we refer to as carnival glass today. This piece has light wear compared to most. It measures 5-1/4 inches tall and 3-1/4 inches wide. The base is 2-1/4 inches wide and the top is 2-1/4 inches wide. The rim is a little ragged which is commensurate with age. There are no cracks. Please note the blue is from the blanket. The glass is clear in these areas.
