This Yard Long Pansies was done by Virginia Janus in the early 1890's. It was used as advertising for the Demorest's Family Magazine. The magazine was founded by William Jennings Demorest and his wife Ellen Louise who was a fashion designer at the time. It became a Monthly magazine in 1879 and ceased in 1899. This print is in great condition with no water damage, holes or tears. There is a tiny unobtrusive smudge on one white flower from when it was originally framed. (Mentioned for the perfectionist.) Print measures 6 inches tall and 36 inches wide. Sits in its original frame behind glass. The frame has spots of missing gesso and paint. The frame measures 8-1/4 inches tall and 38-1/4 inches wide. Frame is unrestored. The verso has a wooden plank backing. I added a new hanging wire to keep it safe on the wall.
