This large antique embroidery was made in the late 19th Century. This carpet depicts a stag and has 2 floral designs. It has been preserved behind glass in its original frame so it is still vivid and in great condition. Hand stitched with raised embossed embroidery on black velvet. I see no water damage or tears. It has its original backing that I did not remove but did look into a corner that had been opened so I could see it is stitched on a very dark black velvet material. It is little colored yarn threads that stick up from the velvet to give the deer and flowers a three dimensional look. Originally framed in Denver Colorado by “C. K. Walker.” It could use a good glass cleaning as the hundred years of sitting behind glass has caused the glass to fog a little which is common. After it is purchased, if you would like the inside of glass cleaned and new back paper applied let me know and I will have it done for you free of charge. Most people want items in original untouched uncleaned condition so if you are not a serious buyer please do not ask. The picture measures 23 inches tall and 38 inches wide. The wood frame measures 25-1/2 inches tall and 41-1/4 inches wide. Frame has scratches and some paint loss. Sorry about the reflections as it was difficult to get good clear pictures without them. If you need more pictures please ask and I will e-mail them to you. I had the original hanging wire replaced so it would last another hundred years without dropping.
