WIDTH: 5 inches - HEIGHT (hinge to top of rose push button): 4 1/2 inches - WEIGHT: 2 ounces - CHAIN LENGTH: 11 inches - COMPACT DIAMETER: 1 1/8 inches
This piece is an all celluloid purse frame, over dyed with colors: blue/green, green, deep red/orange - dating to the 1930's. Although not marked, this type of purse frame was usually made in France.
Undamaged except for a missing dye spot on the exterior of the loop holding the celluloid handle and dye over-run on the inside edge of the frame and minor wear to the color on the front and back surfaces.
The rose closure works smoothly, closing with a sharp snap. The interior cosmetic mirror is original, without distortion. The compact shows a well designed celluloid cameo and is complete with puff on a celluloid ring. I believe that the floral medallion is a hydrangea.
FYI: The lid on the compact does not have a tight closure. It has a tendency to come loose when the bag is open.
