1940's Navajo Stamp Work, Silver (.900-.925) Butterfly Brooch1940's Navajo Stamp Work, Silver (.900-.925) Butterfly Brooch1940's Navajo Stamp Work, Silver (.900-.925) Butterfly Brooch

Measurements: LENGTH: 2" x WIDTH: 1 1/4" x DEPTH: 1/2" - WEIGHT: 17.4 grams (.61 oz.)

This brooch not only has the look, weight and patina of top quality silver, it has also tested positive for silver though it has no markings (Note** Money back guaranteed as described.) As noted in the title, the silver tests .900 (coin silver) to .925 (sterling silver).

Nor is there a maker's mark which apparently was not so unusual for Navajo silver work sold at the trading posts during the 1940's and 1950's.

Butterflies were one of the most desired designs in the early tourist trade during the 1940's into the 50's. Also the wearing of pins, was a very common practice for displaying a person's jewelry and wealth.

Beautifully formed sculptural shape and elegant stamp work design.

Excellent, unpolished condition.
