MEASUREMENTS: WEIGHT 3 pieces including stones: .9 ounces, 26.2 grams - TIE BAR: 1 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/4" - CUFF LINKS: 1 1/8" X 7/8"
Excellent Modernist biomorphic design dating to the 1950's. Fully marked (see photo #2 for the clearest visual of markings).
The stone is lapis - very dark blue with golden bits of pyrite (fool's gold).
Beautifully polished with very light surface abrasions consistent with age and wear - and not really visible unless under direct light.
***The tie clip shows two different pieces of lapis - highlighted with Adobe Photoshop - almost invisible in regular daylight.
"Felipe Martinez - Trained as a sculptor, Felipe Martinez opened his shop, “Piedra y Plata”, in Taxco, Mexico in 1950. Works by Martinez are exceptionally rare and avidly sought by collectors of vintage Taxco silver."
P.S. If you do not use a tie bar as part of your clothing, a tie bar or tie tack makes a great page marker or money clip. Thinking outside of the box!
