Measurements: BROOCH: 2" x 1 1/2 x 1/4 - FRAMED MINIATURE: 3/4" x 1/2" - WEIGHT: .47 oz.
This little gem dates to at least the early 1900's although possibly earlier.
The front of the brooch is made of repousse style gold filled metal work: swirls, leaves, flower buds. No damages to the metal or the finish.
Please enlarge the photo of the miniature oil painting under glass in order to appreciate the landscape details as well as the tiny bridge over the river and building next to the bridge, and the two people walking with their dog/horse/?
Without taking the miniature painting apart, I can only guess that the painting is done on metal. No damage to the painted image or the slightly convex glass cover.
The only damage is to the protective metal backing of the miniature painting. Some of the gilding is missing and there is a tiny hole in the top left of the backing.
As noted in the title, the pin stem and catch are replacements - most likely not because the original open "c" catch (common to the age of this brooch) was damaged, but because later owners wanted the extra security of a safety clasp
