HEIGHT WITH TOP: 1.5" - DIAMETER of Base: 1 18" - DIAMETER of opening: 7/8" - LARGEST DIAMETER of top: 5/8 - WEIGHT of silver top: 7.15 grams
A jewel of a vanity jar (or rouge pot) dating to the beginning of the 1900's. No damages, chips, or holes in the silver top. From what I have been told, women would purchase powders and rouges in plain containers; then transfer their make up into much prettier silver and crystal jars vanity.
This jar is clearly marked as sterling, with the initials: F.& B. for Foster & Bailey - an American company.
The silver lid is topped with a faceted round amethyst crystal which is surrounded with a repousse design of roses and forget-me-nots.
