30 inches x 30 inches in good vintage condition with hand rolled edges
From Wikipedia comes the following information:
"At Christmas time, the regular clientele received silk scarves decorated with a motif of the club insignia. Each scarf is numbered and has the Jockey logo and also features the railings associated with the building. Some of the most unusual and desirable were designed by Ray Strauss, founder of Symphony Scarves, in the 50s and 60s."
The 21 Club is a fabulous part of NYC history, beginning its life as a speakeasy during Prohibition.
These scarves were definitely a special part of that history. They were NOT available for sale. I don't know how many different scarves were produced and given. My guess would be about 20.
This design has several names. I think "Psychedelic" is most descriptive and my favorite.
I will be listing another 21 Club scarf at the beginning of November.
