These souvenir ashtrays were sold in Yellowstone gift shops in the 1950s and 1960s. They were plain glass ashtrays in a round cedar wood holder with Yellowstone Nat'l Park lettered around the holder rim. A postcard picture was placed in the bottom to show through the clear glass. The postcard photo is generally of a bear, elk, or other Park wildlife, but this one is a bit different, depicting a young man or teen in a red cowboy hat and a standing black bear at either side of a lodgepole tree trunk, with Yellowstone Lake in the background. The glue holding the photo in place has loosened, clearly showing that it was cut from a vintage postcard. Very slight wear to the picture, the holder and glass are in excellent condition. The original 60 cent store price is stamped on the underside.
