Delightfully kitschy wallpocket from Gilner Potteries of California with one of their Happy People red pixies posed in the heart shaped center recess of a chartreuse green apple or tomato (the dark green leaf looks more like a tomato leaf than an apple leaf to me). The planter is about 8 inches wide by 6 inches high, the sitting pixie is 4 inches. The back is marked Gilner Calif. and dated 1950.
There are no chips, flakes, crazing, or damage of any kind to the wall pocket - it's virtually mint. The pixie is in excellent condition as well with good paint and none of the usual soiling that often affects the unglazed bisque face. There is a faint, small line of red on his neck that occurred during the hand painting process. The wall pocket is spotlessly clean inside and out, having never held soil or water. The white spots in the pictures are all from glare and reflections.
