Paramount Raylite 1950s Musical Lighted Christmas Church In Box
This circa 1950 hard plastic lighted musical church Christmas display was made by Raylite Electric Corp., a division of Paramount. It comes in its original box which is labeled "Another Paramount Quality Product, Reg. U.S. Pat. Off., No. 977 MC, Illuminated Musical Church". It stands 10-1/2 inches high to the top of the steeple cross and is 6-1/2 by 5-1/4 inches at the base. The stained glass windows of the church light up nicely when plugged in. A music box plays Silent Night when the key at the back is wound. Note the gold cross at the top - later versions of this church were made without the cross as it tended to snap off, often before the churches even made it onto store shelves. This cross did break off and is held in place with a piece of clear tape.
There's a small glue stain at the back of the steeple, not visible from the front. The church is in very nice, clean condition with no chips or damage. The light and music box are working properly. It's marked at the back "Manufactured By Raylite Electric Corp, New York NY". The over 4-foot long socket cord and plug are in good condition with no issues. The box has some normal storage wear but is intact with no splits or tears.
You can put together a very nice holiday display using this church as the focal point, using angel hair or cotton snow, miniature lights, angel figures or other buildings - whatever you like.
