Solid copper cowboy hats like this were very often sold in gift and souvenir shops in the American West and Southwest, particularly near Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon. Normally used as an ash tray, they can also hold change and other small items or simply be purely decorative.
The hat is 4-1/4" by 4" by 1-3/4" high. There are a few tarnish spots but no scorching. The copper has a great warm brown patina - I didn't want to disturb it by cleaning. It is unsigned.
