This type of heavy ceramic mug is typically called a beer stein or tankard. Ironically, it would have to be a big hot chocolate mug, as Brigham Young University students aren't allowed to drink beer, or even coffee.
The collegiate stein is 5-3/4 inches high by about 3-3/4" diameter at the rim. It's the model M20, Jumbo 24 ounce stein. The glaze is deep cobalt blue, the gold decoration features the BYU seal at the center and Brigham Young University below the rim. The underside is marked with the logo of W.C. Bunting Co. of East Liverpool, Ohio. A partial price sticker from the BYU Bookstore still remains. In excellent, probably unused condition.
