This is a 1934 sample booklet for Shellmar stock holiday bands - colorful printed ribbon-like cellophane wrapper bands that shop owners could use to decorate their merchandise packaging for the holidays. The first page gives suggested product uses for the bands like fruit baskets, food cartons and boxes, books, shirts, gloves, and other items.
The booklet contains actual samples of bands for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. There are 10 in all, most for Christmas. The super thin cellophane is old and brittle. Almost all of the bands have damage, some of them with considerable flaking or missing pieces. I'm not sure how many samples there were originally, there are quite a few blank pages. There's some bleed though of the red covers onto the facing pages, and the cover is separated from the stapled pages. Still, an interesting piece of advertising and merchandising ephemera from the Great Depression.
