Two 1940s to 1950s alligator or crocodile figurines, made in Japan from red clay pottery or redware. They're 5-3/4" long with hand painted yellow and white eyes, red lipped open jaws and white teeth. They have the typical brown high-gloss glaze that is hard to photograph without lots of light reflections. The alligators are marked Japan on the undersides and have stamped ink prices of 10 cents. There's some very slight wear to the cold paint around the eye areas, otherwise excellent condition. Price is for the pair.
