I know this 1930s to early 1940s Watt Pottery brown stoneware vessel is a bean pot, but my mother had several like this over the years that she used as cookie jars and storage jars (for S&H green stamps and grocery receipts). I don't remember ever seeing her serve beans or any other food in them.
It's a handsome example, with semi-glossy reddish brown glaze and no damage. It measures 6-3/4 inches high to the lid finial by about 8-1/4" across the tab handles. Incised stock number 76 on the bottom along with "Watt Oven Ware USA". Capacity is 2 quarts.
