This scarce Christmas nativity creche scene was produced for only one or two Christmas seasons by Ideal Toy Company in the 1950s. It's a manger display depicting the baby Jesus in the form of a vinyl baby doll. The box resembles an oversize book when closed. Inside is a litho manger scene background and stand up diecut cardboard figures of Mary, Joseph and two lambs. The story of the Christ Child's birth from the gospel of Saint Luke is printed on the base insert. When opened, the display measures 16 by 12 by 16-1/2 inches high.
The Baby Jesus doll is in very good condition with no damage. About 8-1/2 inches long, the doll has jointed arms and head and realistic amber eyes. The gold painted sturdy cardboard cradle is intact with no tears or stains and is filled with stray hay.
The diecut standup figures were secured with elastic that has lost its stretch over the years - the buyer may wish to replace it. The figures did not want to stand up by themselves, but I took the pictures after using tiny pieces of Alien tape on the backs (it did not cause any tears or harm to the paper or graphics upon removal). The second picture shows a small tear to the part of the insert below the cradle - there's another like it at the center top between the stand up figures, hidden by the cradle. The lithographed inner lid scene has a couple of small dark spots above the right side of the roofline. The outer box has minor corner and edge wear from storage but is intact.

Due to use of both fixed price and weight based shipping, the calculator will often be too high on multi item purchases. If you purchase two or more items and your ship cost seems excessive, just wait to pay until I can adjust your shipping to actual.
