This is an early 1940s Noma Illuminated Christmas Halo Angel tree topper. She has a hand painted composition doll type head and movable arms, rayon-mohair platinum blond hair, embossed long silver foil wings, and a silver foil crown headband. At the back of her head is a metal star halo in front of a clear plastic candle halo which fits over the light bulb to illuminate the angel's face.
The doll is 8-1/2 inches high from head to the bottom of her white and silver vinyl gown, the silvered foil paper wings add about another 3-1/2 inches in height. Her dress hides a cardboard tube which slips over the top branch of the Christmas tree.
The angel's wing tips have a couple of minor creases and her plastic dress has some age yellowing. The face is in remarkable condition for her age, considering how easily this type of composition face crazed, cracked, and flaked. Her hair is slightly mussed, not bad. The cord and Bakelite plug are in excellent condition with no issues and the pink bulb lights up fine. The box bottom and insert are in good condition, the lid has three taped splits around the window opening and is missing the cellophane. Patent numbers dating to 1943 are printed on the box.
