A rare unsilvered glass Christmas ornament from the 1940s World War II years, when silver nitrate was needed for the war effort and was unavailable to non-military manufacturers. It's a 3 inch high ribbed ice cream cone shape in transparent bright cherry red with a thin green ring or stripe at the shoulder. The ornament still has its original cardboard or paper pulp cap - another result of the wartime metal shortage. Both Shiny Brite and Premier Glass works made this shape, but I think this is from Premier based on the distinctive style of the paper cap. In excellent condition with no damage and little if any color wear to the red finish (there is some wear to the green stripe).
