This pretty carved carnelian shell cameo belonged to my Grandma. I never saw her wear it and I'm not sure how old it is other that it's not current/modern as she passed away in the 1980s.
The carved Victorian style lady faces right. She has upswept curly hair and wears a low cut gown. It measures 1-1/8 inches high by 7/8" wide. It has a clasp pin to wear as a brooch and a hinged drop down bail to wear as a pendant. It's marked 750, the European mark for 18 karat gold and there's another mark next to it which I think reads Italy but I'm not positive. The cameo weighs 5 grams. The artist's initials (MV or HV) are carved into the left shoulder area. In excellent condition.
