These unsilvered striped glass Christmas ornaments were made by Shiny Brite in the World War II years, 1942 to 1945. The ornament manufacturers had to use transparent sprayed, flashed, and painted-on colors during that time due to military rationing and shortages of silver nitrate.
The 2-1/4 inch ornaments are clear glass with transparent red painted stripes alternating with bands of white and yellow mica glitter. The red paint has quite a bit of flaking wear. The white mica is in pretty good shape but some of the yellow is worn.
