A big and beautiful blown silvered glass teardrop Christmas ornament with embossed yellow rose bushes in the center indents of both sides. Made in Western Germany around 1950, the ornament is 5-1/4 inches high by more than 3 inches wide at the center, red with mint green painted vertical stripes at the sides and white paint sponging to simulate frost around the center openings. An embossed rosebush with yellow blooms and green leaves decorates the recessed indent on each side.
When held to the light, the ornament has a slight transparency from normal age deterioration of the inner silvering, noticeable only when strongly back lit. There is a little light crazing or crackling to the red finish. No chips or breaks and the ornament displays beautifully.
