This vintage Asian doll was a souvenir of Korea, probably sent or brought back home from a solider. At first glance it looks like a girl, but the hair beneath the traditional bokgeon head scarf is short. The sculptured, hand painted silk covered face is much whiter and more realistic than the later Asian style boudoir dolls from the 1960s and 1970s. All of the Hanbok clothing is silk. The doll is about 15-1/2 inches high and is mounted on a 4 inch wooden base painted yellow. There are no tears or stains. I have a companion female doll from the same estate also listed in the shop.
