This retro 1970s Burwood Regency style wall pocket planter looks like carved gilded wood but is actually hard plastic. The flat-backed acanthus leaf bowl "hangs" from five gold colored chains attached to a an acanthus rosette. Both the planter back and the rosette attach to the wall for stability.
The bowl is 14-3/4" wide across the top by nearly 10 inches high. The chains are 17 inches. Overall length top to bottom is 30-1/2 inches, but of course you can shorten the planter by removing chain links.
The back wall of the planter is made of fiberboard, so it's not suitable for live plants. The backing is positioned lower than the front so it doesn't show. There's some glue inside the planter where the original owner had positioned some Styrofoam. There are no chips or cracks and the gold gilt finish is like new. The back of the rosette is marked "Burwood Products Company, 585-2, MCMLXXIV" (1974).
