This painted steel and tin flag holder would have been mounted on a 1920s or earlier automobile radiator cap. Typically used in parades, political events, and Fourth of July celebrations, the U.S. Shield has five inserts at the back to hold American flags. It measures about 2-1/2 inches diameter. Still functional, though there is some rust to the back and at the upper left corner as shown.
