This paper maché Christmas candy container was made in Western Germany between 1947 and 1951. It's a nodder or bobble head snowman in red top hat holding a tinsel tree in one of his fluffy white chenille arms. A little over 7-1/2 inches high, the snowman is coated in coconut mica snow. The lower half of his ball body is red, the rest is white. His red top hat is dusted in coconut snow frost as well.
Divided at the waist, he opens up to reveal candy or a small gift inside. Both the interior and the bottom of the feet are marked "Made In Western Germany". The snowman has two minor cosmetic issues - the lacquered berry nose is split, and there's scuff to the red paper at the back of the hat. Otherwise the condition is excellent with no tears, damage, or wear to the coconut snow.
