A beautiful antique Georgian to Victorian wax seal in 14k yellow gold, a carnelian matrix that imprints "Betsy". Circa 1830-60, it is a superb chatelaine seal, or one worn on a chain around the neck as a pendant, jewelry. It's been worn 'til the gold is thinned at the chain crossing (see images), but it's still intact. A lovely old treasure! Measurements noted on the photos. From my own collection.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. This is an early one. Possibly earlier than noted. No damage to the hand carved carnelian matrix. It will still print beautifully in wax, should you choose to use it. As noted, wear at the top of the bale end from being worn on a chain. The chain shown in our images is not included. Just shown so you'll see how lovely it is worn thus.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
