Fabulous antique French sterling silver 4pc hors d'oeuvre serving implement or utensil set, stunning figural handles with foxes & cherub or putti and in the original tooled leather storage and/or presentation box! These just in from France and wow, was I impressed! Beautifully ornate with cherub or putti figural busts at the bottom of the handles and rare fox figures toward the tops. Ornate reticulated bowls, etc. and the box itself is one of the finer we've seen with tooled and embossed decoration! All bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmarks, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are likely for Leon Baujois, Paris circa 1877-1899. A stunning set, don't miss them!
Very good to excellent condition. Possibly a tiny dimple or two but no larger dents, damage or repairs to note. The handle of the fork piece, where it meets the upper end, appears just slightly less than perfectly matches but we're not sure if that means it has been reset or just an original flaw. The box is also in great shape, with a not to the replacement right side hook/clasp. See picture for all measurements.
