Fabulous antique French sterling silver & blown glass 10" tall 36 oz claret jug, Gothic style with royal crown engraved top and wonderful condition! The second of two wonderful antique French sterling silver claret jugs just in from France that we're adding this week, this one a bit more simple than the other but elegant nonetheless and with the always sought after royal crown engraved silver top! The body relatively simple, thick & heavy blown glass and solid glass handle, the sterling silver attached to the top of the handle and covering the upper opening. The collar on the handle and lid bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). Silversmith marks for Ferdinand Viton & Aldric Delon, Paris circa 1892-1895. The style similar to the Puiforcat Gothic pattern, the crown looking like that of a Duke or Marquis. A wonderful piece, priced to move so don't miss it!
Very good to excellent condition. I see no damage to the glass and just maybe a slight bend in the silver where it attached to the thumb push. See pictures for all measurements.
