Elegant antique to vintage French rosewood & brass inlay 11 3/4" playing card or gaming, work or sewing box with working lock & key & inner lift-out caddy for cards, chips, tools, etc.! About as pristine as they come, this in the style of a Napoleon III era box and likely dates to the late 1800s to turn of the century and is simply gorgeous! Beautiful rosewood with bright polished brass strip or sting inlay in the lid and cartouche with ornate engraved monogram. It does have a working lock with old skeleton key. Open and it has a finished interior, it appears to be walnut veneers, with a removable tray or caddy. About the size and shape of the Napoleon III era gaming boxes that we offer though this one a bit different in its depth and the interior so the uses are really only up to you and your needs. Lovely all the way around, don't miss it!
Very good to excellent condition! I see no exterior flaws and only what appears to be a filled knot in the veneer lining the inside of the lid. Working lock with key, as noted. See pictures for all measurements.
