Gorgeous Vintage 1925 Minton 10" 11pc Dinner Plate Set, "Dynasty" Pattern, Made for Tiffany & Co., NY
Absolutely gorgeous and RARE 11pc set of 1925 marked Minton 10 1/8" dinner sized plates, "Dynasty Cream" pattern with raised 18k gold enamel decoration and made for Tiffany & Company, New York! There are actually still twelve, I'm just listing them as a set of eleven because one plate has two hairline cracks visible in the white center. Of course, these were made by the world renowned Minton ceramics manufacturing company but specifically for Tiffany & Company and you simply can't find the Dynasty Cream all that often, the other Minton Dynasty colors are blue and green. Vintage yes but nearly antique, just a few more years till their 100th birthday though you'd never guess it by looking at them. The eleven are as near pristine as could be hoped for!
Of course we're all aware of the Minton name, known for their lasting styles and opulent wares (as is Tiffany & Company I might add). This set definitely a testament to their long, lauded histories! Gorgeous! You know, every time I'm in Paris I price the hand decorated raised gold china at the Bon Marche, and those plates, which compare with these (though I admit the old ones are always much finer) range from a low of 500 euro per plate to a high of 5000 euro per plate. The applied gold powder enamels are not only very costly to do, they bring a premium price if anyone spends the immense time to gain expertise and to do this type of elegant plate decoration today. The old ones are still the prettiest, always the best!
Very good to excellent condition. Possibly a bit of wear in a spot or two to the gold enamel but no rim chips, cracks, damage or repairs to any of the eleven, the twelfth with the two cracks as noted above. See pictures for measurements.
