Signed (front and back) by listed French artist: Ludovic Alfred de Saint-Edme (French, born 1820)
Seated Woman in Blue, c 1855-70.
Original watercolor (aquarelle), in frame. Protected under glass. The artist signature is noted on backside of the work, visible from the open back and we've shown it in our photos for your review. We know that Ludovic Alfred de Saint-Edme was French, born in 1820, but we don't have a death date. We can safely date this painting to c.1845-70, however, and it's a lovely personal painting. At once an intimate sized painting, and a brilliantly captured likeness of this young woman. So many details, from style and fashion to jewelry, Still in the old original c.1800s wood frame which is veneered in a compliment of 2 colors of wood. The outer frame is 10" x 8 3/4" and 3/8" thick. The painting is 8 1/4" x 7" and is on a fine old watercolor paper, 100% rag.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. No damage to the wonderful old watercolor painting, and the frame is also in fine form for age and type.
