Ready to frame, or to display just as it is. I love still life paintings, and this one is no exception. A Flemish name signed (artist), but in the mid- late 1800s Impressionist style that is decidedly French. The evening's repast, fish with lemon, some bread and wine, and the intriguing inclusion of a calendar note "Sunday, March 2" which would suggest it's a sentimental painting to commemorate an important event. Alas, I can't tell you more than the obvious. The painting is unframed, in very nice condition and ready to frame. Something like an early masonite type board, it is 14" x 11" as you see it.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. No missing paint; fabulous theme and palette, with thick impasto Impressionist brush strokes. Signed by artist in lower right.
