The artist's signature "FREMONT" appears lower right on this bold scene of Paris, but we have no additional information about him or her. The last time I was in Paris, I found this and one other by the same artist and in the same thrilling style, and of course just couldn't leave either one behind. It has a feel of the Fauve movement in art, you might agree, and at the very least is certainly a post-Impressionist mini-masterpiece. The confident palette and bold composition both thrilled me. I used to teach art (college) and I would have given this artist/student a solid A for use of color, line, balance of shape and overall result. I had intended to frame these and hang in my home. It's been a while now and they're still without frames so here they are, offered separately. This one includes a train or barge, fishermen, Paris backdrop with those fabulous red limbs and accents. It's a small painting, and could certainly grace the walls of a doll house for larger Bru or similar dolls, I think. 10.5" x 8.75", and on early masonite-like hard board panel. The painting is done in oil paints, thrilling coloration.
Very good to excellent condition, ready to frame or to display as you see it without a frame. No holes or loss to the painting, a little edge roughness which represents the panel on which the artist worked, and will be covered in the frame you choose.
