Fine antique French sterling silver & ebony or ebonized wood handled 2pc meat carving implement or utensil pair, a large carving knife & fork with elegant Classical or French Empire style pattern including laurel swags and both in the original fitted storage and/or presentation box! Aren't these wonderful! No hallmarks on the silver portions of the handles but this is not uncommon with smaller sterling fittings and we’re sure they’re silver, either .800 or sterling. The blades & fork tines are the original pre-stainless steel, also in fine shape, with the knife blade simply marked “Paris”. Gorgeous, an elegant addition to your formal dining ensemble and guaranteed to please! Yes, the Holidays are fast approaching and what better way to top off your fine table service that with a beautiful old French carving set, huge juicy ham or turkey awaiting.
Very good to excellent condition. The handle of the knife has a thin age or drying crack but does not extend through and is solid, ready for use. A small nip to the knife’s tip and some age spots to the steel portions. The box is great, original we think and the inside lid is stamped “E. Nogue, Bijoutier, 2 rue Argenterie, Perpignan”. See pictures for measurements.
