For those who admire and love the old French decanters but can't quite manage the high cost of the ones we have in sterling silver, or who want one for informal table use, here is a fabulous one I bought for my own use in our mountain home. The metal is 'etain', or white metal with silver plate finish. Dates late 1800s, is presenting in fine form, and is perfect to put to use time and again when you're not displaying it (or entertaining Royalty). The quality is fine, the glass carafe is exquisite, beautiful, and it's tall and large and holds a full bottle of wine. Decant your wine for table, and do it with this lovely old beauty.
Very good condition for age and type, it has some rubs to the old silver plate at the covered lip, as can be seen on the images, and also on the base and a few other spots. This one has been used and enjoyed. The thick worked glass is stunningly beautiful, empty or filled. Light passes through it in waves owing to thickness. It holds a full bottle of wine, will always be fun to use at table. No chips or damage to the glass.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
