To be perfectly accurate here, I will say that I am not positive if this set is French or if it's Bohemian. I think it's French, but this type of glassware, crystal and edge cuts were made by finest makers in France (St. Louis, Baccarat etc., etc.) and we see Moser (Bohemian) and a few German works that are made in this manner, as well. Without any maker mark to go by, we'll have to be content to tell you that it's definitely 19th century, and is an exceptionally fine set. Crystal rather than glass, this is a fruits or dessert service. The rather large oval tray is stunning, and the set of 8 attending bowls match it perfectly. Wheel engraved, they gather and magnify the light, and that hand applied gold enamel and ornamental fluted cut rim really make this a desirable set for use or display. As you can see with our final image, I think I'll be putting the set to use with some of my own plates soon if you don't buy them away from me immediately. Would be a fabulous gift, by the way.
Very good to excellent condtiion, I see only one tiny tiny nip to a rim on one bowl and it's filed and re-gilded so it is even hard to find at about 3mm across. The rest of the set is just fine, elegant and heirloom quality, to be sure.
