Fabulous antique French Napoleon III to Belle Epoque era artist themed 10 5/8" gilt bronze or brass free standing aneroid barometer, a unique piece in the form of a painter's easel, complete with engraved or machined palette and brushes! Isn't this one lovely! Of course the weather is likely the last thing on the artist's mind but this one has a rather unique case that should appeal to the painter in all of us! Thick, heavy brass or bronze, a tri-footed easel creates the stand with the palette resting (secured) on the easel rests and brushes crossing through the palette's thumb opening. The face of the palette is engraved or machined with foliate decoration and even a dragonfly shaped insect in the upper left. The barometer itself is mounted in the center of the palette, the card dial has French text and everything appears to be intact and in fine working order. A unique and attractive piece, don't miss it!
Very good condition. The only thing worth noting is that the glass on the barometer has been replaced. Some slightly visible surface scuffing to the brass or bronze case/stand but no bends, no damage or repairs. See pictures for all measurements.
