A fine old Georgian to early Victorian jewelry set, 15k solid gold brooch and matching earrings, seed pearls set in the Etruscan-like patterning of the gold jewelry. The earrings and brooch, which has a glass covered locket view in back side, are made in fine quality, entirely by hand and have a unique addition of tiny acorns on the brooch's border, surely some significance to the original owner who commissioned the set. Most likely would have once held a lock of hair of someone loved and mourned, in that locket back. A lovely set, the registration mark is added on each piece so you can research these on your own, too.
Very good to excellent condition, looking as thought they've never been worn or put to use, there is no damage or dent to note, and the cover glass in the locket back is excellent, as well. A c-clamp hinged pin, elongated as was the style in its time, and ear wires on the earrings (for pierced ears). The old box is very tattered by age, and typical of most of the old silk-nap velvet covered presentation boxes of the era, but its interior displays the set very nicely and a gold embossed imprint remains to show the company who originally marketed this item: Bravington Watchmaker & Jeweler, King's Cross (London). The seed pearls are only about 1-1.5mm in diameter, and represent the tears of the mourner. And the gold is both rose and yellow gold, as you can see in our images, making a very pretty set, indeed. Measurements noted on images, but the brooch is about 1.25" square, the earrings about .75" square plus the wires.
Always a pleasure for us here at Antiques & Uncommon Treasure to offer fine quality antique jewelry.
