A fun set of 15 cut steel buttons, never used and still hand sewn onto the card they came with. The set would date to the 1850s, Victorian era, but they're French, so Napoleon III (c.1850-70s, roughly). If you're a button collector, or a costume designer, set designer, these are for you! I love old and fancy buttons, though almost never buy them to sell. These and a set of 9ct gold with mother of pearl were the only 2 sets I just could not pass by last time in France. I think you'll understand why. I've seen individual cut steel buttons for sale in France, 15 euro. Never found a full set of 15 before. I know my price is low.
Very good to excellent, never put to use. They might polish up brightly, but we have not done anything to them at all. Cut steel was such a popular "gem" in Victorian era, as the facets reflected light a bit like diamonds. Measurements are noted on the photos. All 15 buttons go in this offering, of course, just as you see them.
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
